Staccato dots and slur in measure 4
The dots at the end of the stem of the notes of the left hand in measure 4 indicate that notes should be played somewhat detached. If there were no slur over these notes, they would be played sharply detached (see Lesson 62).
The Bells
The idea here is that of two bell-ringers who answer each other as they play upon the chimes. The tones need to be rather brightly and vibrating, like clear bells. The initials D.C. at the end of the piece mean that the first part is to be played again, closing at the word "fine" (finish). Follow the fingering of the lessons.
